Help stop the prohibition of smoking & smokers rights

Welcome to Australian Smokers Rights, and as the name suggests, we do have a sense of humour. Smokers have no rights, or the only right we have is to speak out and protest, and the time has come to do just that. Don't allow health Industry lobby groups tell you how to live your life, don't let them portray smokers, drinkers or the obese as less than human. Find the real truth behind their spin, lies and manipulated science. When our choices are taken away, we lose more than our freedoms, we become sheep on a government farm, managed by health departments. This is the first "World Law" eminating from the US via the World Health Organization, and this was only the first of many to come.

About 25% of those over 18years old choose to smoke in Australia, or about 4 million people, even after the billions of dollars spent trying to stop us. We have become the enemy of society, hated, humiliated, ostracized, discriminated against in jobs, healthcare, insurance, and many other walks of life. This was the intention of the health industry in collusion with governments and we believe it's wrong. Our governments should represent all Australians, and not set the stage to encourage discrimination and even hate within our community. The means do not justify the end, and creating this division and hate is not part of our Australian culture.

Australian Smokers Rights was launched to give smokers a voice, a place for smokers to have our say, express our thoughts, experiences and share the discrimination we live with every day. In fact it's more than discrinination, it's health industry inspired hatred. We are shocked at the way these groups have demonized smokers, and feel no Australian should be treated like this.

Smokers are not an organized group, we only have one thing in common, and have no financial means to present our point of view, and really, most of us didn't think the need would ever arise. Their was no scientific evidence for passive smoking problems, still isn't, and I guess many of us thought common sense would prevail. Were we the only people to assume that pubs and other venues would have a smoking or no smoking choice ? but no, blanket bans simply to pacify the powerful health lobby groups?

We hope others are as angry at the social engineering and creeping authoritarianism as we are, and realize that if we do nothing, we deserve it. The freedom of choice is something many generations had to fight for, it includes the right to make decisions that may not be in our best interests, but we enjoy.

We are 4 million Australian smokers, without a voice you may think, but within our Smoker Rights site, you will find a fast growing movement around the world dedicated to exposing the truth. It is little known that several EU countries have already reversed the smoking bans, giving pubs and other venues a choice, people a choice, it's called freedom of choice.

We shouldn't need to fight for this, Australia prides itself on being a free country (young and free) but it's not. Increasingly we are controlled by fundamentalist, puritanical special interest groups, actually assisted by our so called representatives. If you dig just a little deeper (see our links section) you will be shocked at how we've been conned and controlled in a brave new world of lies, money and power, it really has nothing to do with health.

The Temperance Movement within our health industry, along with government is trying to change the way we live our personal lives. Impartial science says their is no, or very little effects of passive smoking on none smokers, but these special interest groups don't like that science, so change it to suit their needs. Billions of dollars have been spent promoting this lie, and they are paid considerable sums to sell it. You may begin to understand why we are angry smokers, nobody likes to be conned.

Of course it's not all financed by governments, the smoking bans have earned big pharmaceutical companies vast amounts, and if they are earning big money, so are the doctors. It was in everybody's financial interests to see bans introduced, oh, except for those poor suckers who enjoyed a beer, smoke and chat in their local at the end of a hard days work.

To fight against governments, media, health industry and public opinion will not be easy, logic and truth went out the window long ago in this age old dispute. Desparate times call for desparate measures, and although parts of our strategy may seen a little unorthodox, they will get results.

Joining our protest doesn't mean pickets in the streets or anything else so radical. We simply ask you dig a little deeper on this and other sites, and read the truth, donate if you can, which will help us to publicize the facts via our TV, radio and print media throughout the country, if we are allowed by Mr. Murdoch etc.
