The discrimination
It's pretty obvious now, we are experiencing something much more than discrimination, it’s appartate based on being a smoker.
It was always the goal of the health industry, calling it de-normalization of smoking, these small, yet powerful groups do not expect anybody to question their lies. This is new to our Australian society, where “fair go” and “give and take” along with tolerence, have been the hallmarks of our community. To isolate one group is foreign to our way of thinking, but the temperance movement, with a great deal of money, spin and false science has been able to do it. It’s scary to see how our easy going country has been conned by these hate mongers.
It will not be long before medical treatment will only be provided to none smokers, maybe even none drinkers, and obese or overweight folk will be told they are not welcome.
The anti smoker nature of hospitals and other “caring” institutions have cost many lives, yet their ideology persists, they no longer “care” for all equally, and for smokers, it can be a very uncomfortable experience. I have seen it first hand, yet just quietly, a few in the medical profession are as disgusted as we are with the judgmental treatment of smokers, and other groups by hospital managements playing a political game.
Just out of interest, I recently read about the British parliament, building a nice, heated smoking shelter for the politicians, why, because they felt it was a health and safety issue. Shame our hospitals don’t see it that way for sick patients, instead of pushing us out into the streets.
The discrimination goes far beyond the medical profession as we all know, and being a smoker can exclude us from insurance, jobs and many other walks of life. It is going to get a lot worse, and we need to fight it now, showing the real truth, and not allow them to get away with spin.
You may feel there is no way to fight this discrimination, but you are wrong, and the strategy we have in place, will blow them out of the water. Public opinion is a powerful tool, used very well by our opposition, but when the tables are turned, you will see some interesting results. We expect you will be laughing all the way to the pub, the smokers pub that is.
