Well, it's started, jailing people for smoking or allowing smoking. No, it's not China or Nazi Germany, but Britian, the people that fought for freedom a few years ago, and what happens in Britain will happen in Australia a few years down the track.Sadly, as much as we like to think we are a soveriegn nation, we are not, ruled by the UN, WHO and what happens in the US and UK. How long before we are jailed for eating prohibited food, or alcohol more than 1% proof as stipulated by the WHO, and policed by governments.
Read about the nasty criminal Nick Hogan in the UK, jailed for 6 months, and lost his pubs!

Frankston City Council bans smoking on streets ! http:///www.heraldsun.com.au/news/smoking-outdoors-to-be-outlawed-on-three-busy-frankston-streets/story-e6frf7jo-1225828040127
They say power corrupts, and look no further than this council. I wonder how much "encouragement" was given by the pharmaceutical industry. It has more to do with revenue raising than anything, from a greedy, corrupt council. I hope the good citizens of this Melbourne suburb fight it all the way.

European Parliament to Investigate WHO and “Pandemic” Scandal
The Council of Europe member states will launch an inquiry in January 2010 on the influence of the pharmaceutical companies on the global swine flu campaign, focusing especially on extent of the pharma‘s industry’s influence on WHO. The Health Committee of the EU Parliament has unanimously passed a resolution calling for the inquiry. The step is a long-overdue move to public transparency of a “Golden Triangle” of drug corruption between WHO, the pharma industry and academic scientists that has permanently damaged the lives of millions and even caused death.

Welcome to 2010, a new enlightened era of free thought, ok, maybe not, same shit, different decade. The AMA could see a quiet news period, so called for a rise in the price of a pack of cigarettes to $20 ! obviously the pharmaceutical industry needs more profit, so call on their lapdogs to make this call. Talk-back radio is then flooded with "callers" saying the government should make nicotine replacement products like patches available on the pharmaceutical benefits scheme, although it doesn't work in over 96% of users. The once respected AMA has become nothing more than a mouthpiece for the pharmaceutical industry, selling snake oil products.
Not to be left out, what we loosely call "governments" introduced a plethora of new laws to control what we do, on of which is a law prohibiting smoking in our cars, if we have children under 18 in them. This isn't based on any science, more about control, simply for the sake of control and next we will see the same law applied to our homes soon. You may say this isn't possible, but when the teacher asks your child if anyone smokes at home, and the poor kid says yes, then expect a visit from some "child protection group". In our brave new world, children are used to get to parents, and it happens every day in our sheep production factories (schools)
So that's the start of 2010, but I do see some optimism, as the idiot UK government changes, we may see some changes here, because as much as we like to think we have an "Australian" government, most of their policies are copied from the UK, US or EU or forced on us by the UN and WHO. I hope one day we have a truly Australian government, reflecting what Australians want, but I will not hold my breath, it's too easy to copy somebody else.
We will continue our little fight for our right to choose, maybe even see more brave journalists stand up and say "this isn't right" and one day we may even see a politician say NO to laws that are not needed, and simply impinges on our freedom.

The net healthcare costs in Australia from tobacco use in 2008 was about 320 million dollars, yet the excise paid by smokers will be 5.62 BILLION dollars in 2008/9 according to the governments own Department of Health and Ageing. Almost 70% of the price of a packet of cigarettes is excise, one of the highest levels in the world. Nearly 500 million dollars is lost to government from chop chop, or ilegal tobacco sales. Well, I wonder why !

Ok, it's been a while, but we all need a break from time to time. I've been following the "climate change" debate a little and came across this gem from an article by James Delingpole In the UK daily Telegraph, talking about scientists at the Hedley Centre for Climate Change in the UK.
"Conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more."
Now, simply change the word "warming" to smoking, and it could reveal the truth about the tocacco control scam of the WHO. The strategy for the climate change scam could have been lifted directly from the WHO. For the full article, click here

Fighting the smoking bans through the courts is not an easy way to go, particularly when one wants to call government ministers as wtinesses, and you are defending yourself. Justice, in the UK is not a common outcome in the court system there. The judiciary tend to protect the elite and status quo, with individuals not standing a chance. This short article tells the story of Chris Carters attempt, and good luck to him.

If you wonder why we are so angry at scientific and medical corruption and lies, have a look at these results from the Institute of Medicine. It's a short article about what they don't tell you, and how they have no independence, in fact, they are no more than a lobby group for government policy. How can they manipulete results like this, how do they get away with it?

Man Stabbed, Robbed For Cigarette - smoking is bad for your health
CORPUS CHRISTI - Police are looking for two men who stabbed a homeless guy because he wouldn't give them a cigarette.
The victim, 41-year-old Jose Luis Gonzalez, said he was sitting and smoking in a store parking lot on Leopard Street when the men walked up and asked for a smoke. When he told them he was out, one of the guys hit him on the head and knocked him out.
Gonzalez said when he came to, he had a stab wound to the abdomen and his wallet was gone. Luckily, the wound wasn't life-threatening.

Australia is to become the healthiest country in the world by 2020, according to the Preventative Health Taskforce. Of course this will not be achieved through individual choice, it will be forced on us through legislative force, and good old "tax incentives". I think the last country to try this was Germany, many years ago, supported by their anti smoking boss, young Adolf. I am not sure if people understand the meaning of preventative health action, but basically it means a ban on anything they consider not good for your health or your childrens. They can justify anything they ban on the health and safety basis, and like sheep, Australians will simply obey.

A recent report from the good folk at Deakin University ( department of we can get away with anything) says that in Tasmania their was no financial impact on bars in that state of the smoker bans. These clowns took some figures from the bureauu of statistics, manipulated them to suit their needs, and published their results. Now, I am not known for anger, but I was there, I spoke to many pub owners, and watched their sad stories on TV news, with a 25-30% reduction in sales. It isn't until you get to the last line of this propaganda that the truth is exposed "The smokefree policy protects hospitality workers and patrons from exposure to secondhand smoke, and has no adverse effect on sales turnover" , well yes, it does protect workers, most are now at centrelink, it protects them from earning an income !! This is no more than political propaganda churned out by tobacco control lobbyists. My thanks goes to Christopher Snowdon, Author of "Velvet Glove, Iron Fist" for bringing this crock to our attention.
